Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in performing arts (now known as Maureen O'Hara), would have placed her, according to American standards, in the class of child prodigies. For a child with Irish heritage, and surrounded as she was by gifted parents and family was naturally gifted, it came as a natural. Maureen was born in Ranelagh - a suburb of Dublin - Ireland, on 17 August 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons was an accomplished contralto. The father of her, Charles FitzSimons, managed an enterprise in Dublin and also owned part of the well-known Irish soccer club "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons is the 2nd child of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons completed the wonderful family. Maureen was a great athlete and was a gruelling athlete in sports when she was a young. Additionally she was gifted to act. This was demonstrated by her winning pretty much every Feis award for drama or theatrical performing her country offered. When she was fourteen, she was accepted into the Abbey Theater, where her ambition was to study operatic singing as well as classical theater.
